August 2, 2025 Meeting Minutes

ELK FOREST CIVIC ASSOCIATION, ANNUAL SUMMER MEETING MINUTES – August 2, 2025

Attendees:

Call to Order was at 3:00 PM, started by Lauri Leone.  Thanks were given to the hosts, Travis and Sam Hembree, and to Sherri and Dave Mitchell for purchasing food and beverages.

Quorum was verified – LaPense (F)

Previous Minutes Review – LaPense (F).  A motion was made to approve the Minutes, it was seconded, and all were in favor.

Treasurer’s Report – Megahed, L (See attached). A motion was made to approve the Financial Report, it was seconded, and all were in favor.  Dues were collected from 71 out of 106 households.

Mosquito Spraying  - (Mitchell, S) Mosquito spraying occurs only once per week, weather permitting (we are allocated one day of the week w/no weather make-up days).

Website Report – (Mitchell, D) The website is averaging eight hits per day (up from five in April).  Reminder:  All Minutes, activities and history can be found on the site.

Recent Events

Holiday Party – Thank you went out to the LaPenses’ for hosting another holiday party. 

NC Flood Victims – The Silvermans provided their property to collect clothing and household items for the subject victims.  Donations were coordinated by Veterans.

Spring Cleanup – The subject May 3rd event was a success.

Progressive Dinner – The Tres de Mayo themed dinner on May 3rd was a success, and was held at three households with participation from five households.

New Business

Holiday Party – The Civic Association is looking for a family to host the beginning of the year holiday party.  Please reach out to any of the board members with interest.

Fall Progressive Dinner – An announcement will be made on another Progressive Dinner.  Please be on the lookout!

Board Positions – Roles are coming up for election for either Officer or Board positions.  Please reach out to any current Board member with interest.  These will be discussed at the November 13th Board meeting.

Sign Maintenance – A thank you went out to David Silverman and Dave Mitchell for maintaining the community signs.

Open Discussion – A suggestion was made to update the neighborhood phone list as there are many outdated entries.  Please provide all updates to Dave Mitchell.

The condition of Elk Forest Rd was discussed, and Sherri Mitchell will pursue getting its repavement on the county docket.
